The D’oh Show

“Could I interest you in some steamed hams?”

2019’s instalment of Monash Uni Student Theatre’s annual orientation show drew inspiration from cult classic, the Simpsons. The Simpsons left Springfield behind and made their way to Monash. What could go wrong? The show followed the Simpsons on their latest adventure, full of wacky antics, witty satire, and Willie the Grounsdkeeper. So much Willie. Tackling the challenge of costuming another large ensemble cast based on well-known 2d characters with my co-designer Shannon Brown was an arduous task but a fulfilling one nonetheless. Working once again with a student theatre budget and whatever we already had on hand, creating this show involved lots of sewing, dyeing and even painting clothes to bring to life a colourful cast of strong personalities. Some wig-making was involved too, adding to my arsenal of growing costuming skills.
